Hello Spring: How Resetting Helps You Reach Your Goals

So spring has literally sprung up on us. I must say that the beginning of the year started off ruff. My new year really did not begin until February. It definitely feels like the winter was about a month long. I know that I have had my head down trying to really settle into my goals. I don’t know about you but I’ve really been thinking a lot about where I am and where I want to be at the end of 2022. While also trying to figure out my path to get to my desired point. I’ve made some head way. What has really helped me has been doing monthly, weekly and sometimes daily resets.

Have you seen any of the YouTube videos about monthly resets? I’ve been obsessed with them. You Tubers share there reflections on the success and failures of the previous month and then set fresh goals for the new month, clean their  homes, rest, restock their fridges among other things that help them prepare for a new month.  Each one I’ve watched has been a little different as far as what tasks are  incorporated in the reset but yet they are inspiring.

I’ve found that the monthly reset helps you track the progress on your goals by requiring you to check your progress monthly, alter your tasks or scrap your goals if they are no longer a priority.  I figure I’d try it for the new quarter. I’ll share with you my plan to make Quarter two unforgettable in my spring reset video linked below.

The three parts of my monthly/ weekly reset is to:

Step one: Review my goals. I have yearly goals and goals for the monthly which technically are my larger yearly goals broken down.

Once i review my goals the next step is reflecting on my month. I ask myself what have I achieved and why. Also what did not work and why. From there I access if I should move on to a new goal or work on the obstacles and barriers that are keeping me from reaching my goal.

Step two: Set New Goals for the Month/ week that lead you to your year end goals. Create my habits and capture tasks.

Once I know where l’m trying to go for the month I do a brain dump of all the tasks I can image that will help me get to my goal. I also journal about barriers, how I will overcome these obstacles and finally I capture thoughts and important events for the month.

Once i have everything captured I take a high lighter and categorize between tasks, habits, appointments ect. This makes things easier when I move to my calendar to time block my tasks.

Step three: Plugging everything into a calendar

This is done in my planner. I plug in my time frames and tasks on days I know I can get them complete. This helps me see the whole month/ week. I also see where I have extra time. This also allows me to make sure I don’t over work myself because I also have a full time job.

Step four: Prepare for success

Once I get my plans together. I get my space and place togther. This includes doing any laundry, cleaning and organizing so that I am clear headed and not overwhelmed by clutter. Finally I head out for grocery and essentials. I purchase items that will help me be successful with my fitness goals, give me energy, and any necessities needed. This keeps me on track financially and I am sure to only get what I need.

I find that these things are best done in a two day span unless you have an entire 4-8 hours to spend on this a month or week. So I would spend a few hours Saturday planning and reflecting and then on Sunday I can organize, meal prep, and shop. Monthly resets may take a little longer because there is more to plan, reflect on, and more organizing.

If you think you need a monthly reset I have a free downloadable printable with the steps for creating reset. If you want to dive a little deeper I have a Signature Guide/planner that helps you to create the perfect monthly-weekly reset.

I set goals for the new month, week, or quarter. My goals may also include goals I have not reached if there are any lift from the previous month that I have not completed. The next step is blocking off time in my calender to get it all done. I not only plan for my 9-5, my side hustle, but i also plan my fitness, beauty, family and friend time and so forth. Anything I want to make time for in the month gets a time block.

In the future I hope to add a financial portion to my monthly/ weekly resets. I check my accounts daily, and budget every two weeks but I would like to add a deeper financials deep dive to my planning session. When you have significant goals it is import to keep abreast of what is coming in and what is going out to avoid over spending.

The final part of my reset is stocking up for fitness. That’s heading to the grocery store for monthly essentials. I’ve found that a monthly trip to a bulk store like Costco or sams saves a ton of money on staples like meats, protein drinks, fruits, frozen veggies, and snacks for those of us who cook most days of the week. I typically only head to the grocery store once a week to pick up fresh fruit or  dry ingredients for meals. Shopping this way also saves me time and allows me to plan and meal prep weekly without a hitch.

The other portion I want to start adding to my reset in organization/ or project planning. There are two projects I am working on this year. One is revamping my wardrobe and two is redoing my bedroom. I am at the point where I want to invest in some nice things and just add yearly. I am no longer interested in many trendy items. I want pieces that will last for years to come.
