Resetting for Less Stress and More Productivity + 3 Books on Productivity

Its already mid- January. Have you given up on your goals already? Studies show that nearly 50% of people give up on there goals or resolutions by mid January. Well if you are serious about reaching your goals with peace this year you need to do a reset for 2024. This is a process coined by You tuber Carter Sullivan who does resets every month to help her stay on track with her goals. I have tried them throughout 2023 and I must say that taking dedicated time to close out the current month, review my goals and complete some tasks that make it easier for me to move forward successfully in the coming days and weeks keeps me focused, productive, and stress free. I’ve come to understand that when I don’t take time to review my goals and putting them on my calendar they get lost in the shuffle of life.
The most influential components of a monthly/ yearly resetting are noting the wins and loses of the month/week. Reviewing the progress you have made on your yearly goals and setting new goals or intentions that help you move forward to reaching your big goals, and then planning the tasks and projects needed to get closer to completing your goals. Just doing these few things help me prepare for a successful month or week.
If your thinking about trying a reset for the new year here are a a short list of steps to help you complete your own reset for 2024.

Step One:Journal about your previous year using the three journal prompts below
- What were my wins of 2023
- What were my loses in 2023
- What do I want to take with me into 2024 from 2023
- Detail your ideal year
Step Two: Set Your 2024 Goals
Choose three or four areas of your life you would like to improve and set some goals in those areas. This year I’m focusing on health and fitness, Career, finances, and family. You can use those same areas or add some additional ones such as hobbies, travel, entertainment, friendships etc.
Step Three: Create Your Vision Board
Once you have journal-ed about your ideal year and set your goals now its time to create a physical representation of your goals. You can do it the traditional way but pulling pictures and scripts from magazines that remind you of your goals and pasting them to a poster board. Or if you want aesthetic vibes creating a digital vision board via canva and using it as your phone or computer screen saver.
Step Four: Plan, Plan, Plan
Plan, plan plan. If you don’t have a planner or calendar now is the time to purchase one. At this point in the reset you are scheduling all your tasks, events, meals, fitness, and any other items that help you reach your goals. For example if your working on your finances you can note your paydays, bill due dates, and track your expense to help stick to your financial goals. I like to schedule blocks of time to work on specific projects or tasks during the week to keep me on track with my goals. Especially when you are working a 9-5 it is important to make sure to block off specific time to work toward your goals. Don’t forget your weekends and work holidays are all great days to get ahead.
The four steps we just discussed are the basics, but there are so many other components your could add to your reset based on your goals or what is important to you going forward. Listed below are a few to add
Meal Planning
Workout Routines
Preparing your space for the week
Budgeting for the month
Self Care planning

Cleaning your car
