5 Actions Steps To Recommit To Your Goals This Summer

Woman working on Laptop on the Beach

I’m happy to say I’m back. I took a long hiatus from getting the blog up and running due to the many life shifts that came my way in the last couple of years. Lets see…there was a whole pandemic, three jobs, and a whole other host of family and personal things that arose. I couldn’t wrap my head around trying to be consistent with Uncommonly Queen. This summer I’m changing that. This summer I’m focused on making Uncommonly Queen the blog and brand I’ve always dreamed of it being if it means having working lunches and hustle weekend I’m committed to making this dream a reality.  Here are five strategies i’m using to to recommit to my goals this summer without skipping on the fun of summer.

Managing My Time Like a Pro

Productivity is never an accident it is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning and focused effort

Paul J. Meyer

After doing much research on how women with side hustles juggle family, 9-5 life and a lucrative side hustle the thing that sticks out the most is living by a calendar. They live by the motto “if its not on the calendar then it doesn’t happen”. Managing my time will be very important in this season. It will require that I sacrifice some last minute things in order to put in the necessary work. I’m committing to specific days and and times for writing. As I type this I’m sitting in a coffee shop close to my job so that I can carve out time to write on my lunch break. Another strategy will be time blocking specific tasks associated with the blog during the week. A possible schedule going forward would look something like this:

Friday: Research + Image sourcing 7pm-10pm

Saturday: Post by 2 pm, Write and Edit 7 am-12pm

Sunday: Edit and Format: -5pm, Plan socials and content for upcoming week

Monday- Thursday: One hour of writing or research a day depending on what has to be done.

The goal would be to get as much done on the weekend as possible and be intentional about my time. Using a schedule like this would allow me to focus on specific tasks while also be intentional about the few hours have allocated to work on my blog.

Making Time For Intentional Rest

Another issue that held me back in the past from being consistent on the blog is trying to push through fatigue either mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally. I use to work until I was exhausted. This resulted in two things. I either burned out and quit working on side projects like my blog, gave up on my fitness goals, spent weeks bringing Netflix and Hulu trying to recover just enough to do what what I had to do, my 9-5. As I am adding more to my plate this summer I’m scheduling in rest days. Rest days will look like beach days, sitting by the pool with a cool drink or laying on a blanket in the park reading a summer romance. Long walks and  spending evenings on the porch drinking peach tea. Savoring summer with out a care in the world…no phones or electronics. Resting recharges creating and aids the brain. I defintely will be using rest as a strategy this summer.

Leaning Into The Momentum Of The Season

Summer is about living life. Finding joy in every moment. Summer is also thought of as a time to work hard in order to gather your harvest for fall. Remember the Ant in the biblical proverb:

Go to the Ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise. Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, providerth her meat in summer and gathereth her food in harvest.

Proverbs 6:6-8

If you continue on reading the proverb the writer asks how long you will be sleep and he finishes saying that poverty will come like a thief and scarcity like an armed man stealing your harvest if you work to gather it. I want to be like the Ant making sure doing the work so that I’ll have a harvest. My mindset will be work hard so that you can enjoy the fruits of my labor when the time comes

Finding Inspiration In the Season

  1. Finding inspiration in the season. So as you know being a resource for women can see overwhelming. A big fear of mine is running out of cool tips, tricks, hacks, and uncommon thoughts. I love reading and discovering new things. This lead me to wanting to start a blog. So this summer engaging in experiences that learning that help me improve that I can share with you all will be so fun. I’m filling out my summer calendar now of cool things to try…do…and see. Or shall we call it a summer bucket list. Stay tuned on the blog to see what we recommend for a summer to remember.

Adopting summer hours…

Summer is the perfect time to recommit to one of your biggest goals. The longer hours in the day time just give off the work hard play hard vibes. I can’t wait to see how my efforts grow my little piece of the internet.
